Workspot recently worked together with the AWS team to launch Workspot Cloud PCs for Amazon WorkSpaces Core. This solution combines Workspot’s enterprise-proven SaaS platform for delivering Cloud PCs with the security, global reliability, and cost efficiency of the AWS infrastructure. The solution is completely transforming end-user computing by modernizing outdated VDI and reducing the IT overhead and security risks associated with large fleets of physical PCs. Now there’s a technical guide available from our friends on the Amazon Workspaces Core team.

Workspot delivers Cloud PCs for enterprise use cases across multiple AWS cloud regions. We are pleased to extend the choices Enterprise customers have for deploying Cloud PCs to include Amazon WorkSpaces Core. We make it simple to deploy, scale and troubleshoot Cloud PCs across all Amazon WorkSpaces Core regions via a single admin console. Workspot provides both persistent and non-persistent desktops, virtual apps and hosted shared desktops, as well as GPU accelerated desktops in AWS. Customers can go “all-in” on the cloud, or they can deploy Cloud PCs in the cloud and on-prem in their own data center, tailoring the deployment to the unique needs of each organization.

Our solution uniquely delivers significant business benefits that have not been achievable previously, including fast time-to-initial-value, innovative cost-optimization techniques, performance that delights even the most demanding end users, and global, real-time Cloud PC observability and health analysis using Workspot Watch and Workspot Trends.

The team at AWS has produced a blog with all the technical details about how to provision, configure and deploy Workspot Cloud PCs for Amazon WorkSpaces Core. This is the blog for you if you want to know more about licensing, creating an Amazon WorkSpaces custom bundle, joining the domain, setting up the Workspot Enterprise Connector and RD Gateway, managing the desktop VM, connecting with the Workspot Client, and more. Access the blog from the Amazon Workspaces Core team, “How to Set Up Workspot Cloud PCs and Amazon WorkSpaces Core” now.

  • You can also come and see Workspot and AWS together in Nashville at the IGEL Disrupt 2023 event April 3rd through 5th at the Gaylord Resort and Conference Center. Our CEO, Amitabh Sinha, will be highlighting Workspot Cloud PCs for Amazon WorkSpaces Core during the early Wednesday general session. We’ll have live demos in the Expo Hall and I’ll be there along with Mark Callahan to share the latest innovations during our Workspot Technical Bootcamp and Breakout sessions.

And we’re saving the best for last as we share a very special treat for the EUC community: Mark Templeton’s Closing Keynote where he’ll be answering the top three questions he gets all the time:

1) What have you been up to?
2) Why Workspot? (he’s our Workspot Board Chairman)
3) What does the future hold?

No spoiler alerts here, but VDI Modernization is a core theme of Mark’s keynote, and his signature “One More Thing…” will pique your imagination – Cloud PCs could evolve in ways you may have never imagined. Hope to see you there!

Remote work is now mainstream. Many organizations have accelerated the transition to cloud computing to provide resources for users working from anywhere and to access hard-to-source talent globally. However, many companies are still struggling to figure out how to balance hybrid work models with productivity and security.

CIOs have tried various methodologies to support remote work – traditional VDI deployments and remote access through a VPN (Virtual Private Network), laptops on SD-WANs, and shipping hardware back and forth, among others. These approaches suffer from many problems including unreliable user experience, lack of performance due to high latency, serious security risks, and complex and expensive management. The result of these outdated approaches is low productivity, high complexity and costs and greater security risk – surely not a formula for success.

Workspot and Amazon are partnering to address the challenges enterprises face. Today we are announcing Workspot on Amazon Workspaces Core. You can read the AWS announcement here. Workspot integrated the Amazon WorkSpaces Core APIs to create a simple connection between the Workspot Cloud PC management console and the Amazon WorkSpaces purpose-built VDI infrastructure. This allows Workspot customers to easily deploy Cloud PCs and scale VDI capacity on AWS Cloud directly from their existing VDI management solution. This new offering combines Workspot’s F500, enterprise-grade, exceptionally reliable global Cloud PC platform with Amazon Workspaces’ deep knowledge and experience operating virtual desktop infrastructure on a massive scale across Amazon Web Services Regions. Want to see Workspot Cloud PCs in action? You can schedule a demo here and we’ll show you how it works!

Cloud PC Platform with Global Reach, High Reliability, and Zero Trust Security

Workspot Cloud PCs on Amazon WorkSpaces Core are for enterprises that require high-performance Cloud PCs featuring enterprise-grade, zero-trust security for a global user base.

Key features:

Global Automation: Workspot on Amazon WorkSpaces Core automates delivery of Cloud PCs in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Regions to deliver the highest performance by placing each Cloud PC in the AWS Region closest to the end user, minimizing the latency between user and Cloud PC. Enterprises can use one, two, or all AWS Regions concurrently to obtain the highest performance for all users. Workspot Control, which is the web-based management console integrated with the WorkSpaces Core APIs, enables IT to manage all Amazon Workspaces Core regions from a single management console:

      • Manage and automate delivery of all Cloud PCs in any combination of AWS Regions from one place. IT can manage and change images as needed.
      • Automate all provisioning and maintenance workflows without having to access the VMs, network, or storage directly in AWS, thus removing complexity for IT.
      • Manage all Cloud PCs in all regions as a single deployment.

Cost Optimizations and Flexible Options: Optimizing cost is the #1 concern for most IT organizations. Workspot integrates and leverages cost optimization features built into Amazon WorkSpaces Core, such as Cloud PC hibernation and dedicated host management, to deliver the lowest-cost infrastructure options for AWS customers. Workspot also enables customers to choose hourly, monthly, and annual pricing options for their Cloud PCs and workstations so they can select the option best suited for each use case. Amazon offers flexible pricing options so customers can deliver the right resources for every end user.

Global Visibility: All user activities, performance monitoring, and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) data is delivered to IT through a single admin console with a unified time stamp. The Workspot Network Operations Center (NOC) enables the organization’s operations team to have a real-time, contextualized view of the health of all Cloud PCs globally in a single view. This capability can minimize the impact of an outage and it accelerates both root cause and blast radius analysis.

Adhere to Enterprise Security Requirements: Workspot’s unique architecture separates control of the system from the data transmission. Each organization uses unique proxy gateways; thus, they can use their existing, corporate-standard identity provider, multi-factor authentication, zero trust security policy, and existing security and updating tools. Security teams can connect the Workspot platform to their SIEM, making use of user and platform data to create custom security monitoring and alerts for all activity globally.

Hybrid and Multi-Cloud: Not all workloads may be ready for migration to AWS. Workspot Cloud PCs can also be deployed in hybrid mode using on-premises hypervisors such as VMware vSphere and Linux KVM as well as other cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. From a single management console, Workspot uniquely provides IT with complete observability of all Cloud PCs, across on-premises and cloud providers.

Workspot Center of Excellence for Cloud PCs: Many organizations do not have end-user computing expertise available on staff. The Workspot Customer Success Team partners with our customers’ IT teams as trusted advisors and acts as an extension to IT. They make use of innovative, proprietary tools to proactively manage and monitor the Cloud PC environment. They collaborate with the customer’s IT team on an ongoing basis to identify Cloud PC performance and connectivity issues and analyze root causes. When needed, Workspot interfaces with key third parties such as AWS, Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA on our customer’s behalf to get to a quick resolution. The Customer Success Team also focuses on ensuring customers benefit from ongoing platform innovation.

Workspot on Amazon WorkSpaces Core will be available across Amazon WorkSpaces commercial regions and zones globally, except Africa-Cape Town.

The Workspot team is excited to be heading to Munich for IGEL DISRUPT23, which is February 14-16 at the INFINITY Hotel & Conference Resort. There’s still time to register! Visit: www.disruptEUC.com.

I recently spoke with the IGEL team about my thoughts on the upcoming event in Munich, which is covered in IGEL’s blog and reproduced here. If you can’t attend the event but want to see Workspot in action, just schedule a demo here and we’ll show you what the SaaS Cloud PC excitement is all about!

******

DISRUPT23 – The Ultimate Global EUC in Munich will soon be here, with the Nashville event soon afterward in April. We continue our event sneak preview by interviewing more of DISRUPT23’s leading sponsors, getting their insights and expectations for this blockbuster event.

Today our DISRUPT23 guest Q&A features an interview with Brad Peterson, Vice President, Marketing for Workspot. He shares his insights into the value of DISRUPT23 and why Workspot is a proud sponsor.

What makes DISRUPT23 – The Ultimate Global EUC Event?

Brad Peterson: Having all the major end user computing (EUC) players in one building makes this the one-stop-shop experience for any company looking to address the rising cost and complexity of securing physical PCs and modernizing virtual desktops around the world. IT leaders can get all their questions answered by talking with the foremost experts from leading EUC companies. The Workspot team is looking forward to talking with attendees about their cloud journeys, what is driving Cloud PC adoption, and which use cases make the most sense for getting started (you may be surprised at the answer!).

Why did you choose to be a DISRUPT23 sponsor?

Brad Peterson: The last few years have been trying, to say the least. Throughout this time, IGEL has done a great job bringing the EUC community together. At DISRUPT23, it will be exciting to finally be together in person again, to spend quality time learning and socializing with this incredible group of like-minded people. We learn so much from the attendees, just as we seek to guide them on their cloud journeys.

What do you expect at this year’s DISRUPT23 event?

Brad Peterson: We are seeing a lot of momentum around modernizing EUC. IT teams have been struggling for too long with complex and costly desktop management, whether physical PCs or VDI. Organizations of all sizes are actively pursuing alternative approaches to EUC, and we believe Cloud PCs are the best approach. Because of these modernization initiatives, we expect to encounter attendees who are far more sophisticated in their understanding of the EUC options than the last time we gathered in person. We invite all the tough questions – it’s why we are a sponsor, and we hope attendees will seek us out at our booth and speaking sessions to learn from our more than 5 years’ experience implementing highly successful enterprise Cloud PCs – longer than any other vendor.

What will you be presenting at DISRUPT23?

Brad Peterson: As a Platinum sponsor and having just achieved a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 80 (which is off the charts great!), we are excited to share some of our Cloud PC success “secret sauce” with attendees. Our Enterprise Cloud PC platform delivers Cloud PCs and GPU accelerated Cloud Workstations to users in any region of any public cloud. We’ll show you how to deploy and manage all your Cloud PCs – globally, across cloud regions and clouds – using a single admin console. Your Cloud PCs can be implemented on Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Amazon Web Services – or any combination! This is how you optimize costs, access the best capabilities by use case, and ensure business continuity. You’ll find us in the Expo Hall, on the main stage on a panel during the General Session, hosting a Breakout Session and conducting two Technical Bootcamps. Attend the sessions to see product demos, hear customer success stories and take a deep dive into our SaaS platform. We can’t wait to see everyone in Munich!

What can attendees expect to learn?

Brad Peterson: Attendees are looking for answers to the EUC challenges they are facing, and they are headed to the right place – IGEL DISRUPT 2023! Attendees likely have 3 primary expectations:

  • Education: What are my EUC options? What are the pros and cons of different approaches? Show me how it works!
  • Communication: Talk directly to EUC vendors, network with peers, gain insights from keynotes and actionable information from sessions.
  • Inspiration: Feel confident in making the right EUC decision for their company We are looking forward to contributing to the attendees’ knowledge and helping them be successful.

Why is using your technology with IGEL better together?

Brad Peterson: IGEL and Workspot have similar strategies. IGEL OS is software that runs on all the major thin client hardware vendors (HP, Lenovo, LG) and Workspot is a Cloud PC Platform that deploys on all the major public cloud providers (Amazon, Google, Azure). Imagine a world where you can pick any hardware platform for the end point, and any cloud provider anywhere in the world for your Cloud PCs. That’s the agility, flexibility, and resilience you need. That’s IGEL and Workspot.

Why do you think everyone in the EUC community should attend DISRUPT23?

Brad Peterson: People need to solve the age-old EUC problems of increasing cost and complexity, poor security, and poor user experience. Today, you should be delivering just-in-time, perfectly provisioned, precisely tuned, evergreen Cloud PCs in the closest cloud region to every end user. You should expect to be able to choose the right price-performance configuration for each of your use cases. Come to DISRUPT23 to gain an understanding of the vast differences among virtual desktop solutions and learn more about Workspot Cloud PCs and IGEL – the solution that CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, CISOs, IT admins and end users all love!

Say “YES” To Attending DISRUPT23!

Are you ready to join in? Say “YES” to DISRUPT23 today. The Munich DISRUPT EUC event will be held February 14-16 at the INFINITY Hotel & Conference Resort and in North America, IGEL will welcome attendees to the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, April 3-5. Registration is $399 per person. To register, visit: www.disruptEUC.com. See you there!

]]>
A few months ago we proudly presented the results of our first Workspot Cloud PC Net Promoter Score (NPS) survey. It’s hard to not feel proud about this score – in fact it’s impossible. So I’m just going to say it: While most B2B companies collect scores in the 20’s and 30’s, our first NPS score back in April was 76! Now that’s not to say that an NPS score of 20 or 30 is bad. It’s just that 76 is off the charts, and since our customers assigned that score to us, we could not have been happier about it. To give you an idea, that gives us a higher NPS than Southwest Airlines(58), Zoom(51), and Google(48). But wait, there’s more!

Workspot Scored Again!

As a reminder, calculating an NPS score is as simple as tallying up your responses and subtracting the percentage of detractors from the percentage of promoters. A score that is above 0 is considered favorable. Above 20 is very good and above 50 is excellent.

Net Promoter Score: The Best and Most Humbling Way to Improve Yourself and your Business | by Ha Nguyen | Spero Ventures | Medium

Fast forward to October, we launched our second NPS survey, and it is concluding now. Here’s where we need a drum roll…the new Workspot Cloud PC Net Promoter Score is… 80! That is certainly cause for celebration, and we are so grateful for our customers’ responses.

“We rely on Workspot for just in time model cloud PCs for our immediate business requirements. The customer support model is fantastic.” – Kumaraguru Ramasamy, Mott MacDonald

The Workspot Customer Success Difference

I personally have never worked for a company where the customer is so core to everything we do. I mean how often can you get your Chief Product Officer or an engineer on the phone with your customers! We’ve talked about our Customer Success “flywheel” in the past, but it bears repeating, because organizations looking to modernize VDI or move away from physical PCs and workstations need to know how committed a vendor is to their success. Everyone says they are all about the customer, but here’s what Workspot actually does to prove it.

Here is how I view these five stages:

  1. Product – We offer an innovative platform for delivering Cloud PCs and applications that is unmatched in capabilities.
  2. Systems Integration – Our amazing onboarding team helps to integrate our solution with your cloud of choice, plus other key elements of your stack, including the security solutions and PC management tools you’ve already standardized on.
  3. Continuous Outcomes Optimization – Your dedicated Workspot account team will partner with you to ensure your desired business outcomes are met over the life of our engagement.
  4. Pro-active Operational Support – Our amazing support organization is always watching and helping you solve potential issues, sometimes before you even know there is a problem! They continuously garner accolades for their outstanding responsiveness.
  5. Product Enhancements – We listen to our customers feedback and push our product forward with their help. Our agile development process means we can bring new features, often suggested by our wonderful and innovative customer base, to life quickly to the benefit of all our customers.

“Solid technical and customer support. An excellent DaaS provider!” – Doug Edmunds, Summit Design and Engineering Services

There’s no COE Like Our COE

Customer success is everything! As our Field CTO, Matthew Davidson, puts it, we are second to none. Workspot’s world-class Cloud PC Center of Excellence (COE) is characterized by three important cornerstones, People, Processes, and Tools. Unlike other virtual desktop vendors delivering software solutions that you must design, install, configure, test, validate, deploy, and manage, all on your own, we partner with you throughout your cloud journey.

Our Customer Success Team is world-class. They have deep experience with old-school VDI and the challenges customers have been facing with it for decades. This experience is one of the reasons that customer satisfaction is so deeply embedded in our company culture, because we’ve seen customers struggle for too long, so we’re in the business of ending end user computing complexity. Plus, we simply hire high-quality people who truly care about your success. It’s that simple. Workspot is the only vendor that has delivered enterprise Cloud PC solutions for more than 5 years. Our experience shows, and it’s reflected in our astounding NPS score and in our Customer Support Team’s 100% satisfaction rate. We are continually innovating the platform as well as the processes we employ to make you successful. Sophisticated tools, such as our Network Operations Center (NOC), offer industry-first monitoring and big data analysis for the ultimate Cloud PC availability and reliability that are unmatched by any other vendor.

Together, these cornerstones ensure the success of your unified end-user compute environment for the long-term, so you can focus on achieving your business goals.

What’s On the Roadmap?

At Workspot, we put you, our customers, at the heart of our innovation. We are always looking for strategic ways to make improvements to best serve you. The most important way that we do that is by providing the features and functionality that align with your business.

In this August edition of “On the Roadmap with Workspot Cloud PCs,” we highlight the new features and functionality that our product team has worked tirelessly to develop. This month, we had a strong focus on security, and cost optimization tools.

Let’s jump right in and look at some of the recent features that you can use to maximize your Workspot experience.

Spotlight Feature

Our spotlight feature this month is on our Azure Hourly Plan! Our Azure Hourly Plan for persistent and non-persistent desktops allows our customers to take advantage of consumption billing, only paying for the usage of the virtual machine and having the ability to pause it when not in use.

Additional Key Cloud PC Features

With a strong focus on security this month, we have provided four key security features for customers using Azure Active Directory (AAD) only, without legacy Active Directory (AD):

  • AAD Group Assignment allows customers to manage Cloud PC users with AAD groups, simplifying the management of large numbers of users.
  • Customers can assign AAD Account Logins for Workspot Control. Simplifying the management of login IDs for Technology Administrators by connecting to AAD groups.
  • AAD Bulk Primary Refresh Token + Key Vault support allows AAD only deployments to store a Bulk Primary Refresh Token in Azure Key Vault for an optional higher level of security.

Another key security feature is the Posture Check (beta) release. Posture Check enables the technology group to demonstrate to their Governance and Compliance body that only security compliant devices can connect to the network. Currently managed by Workspot in Control, the Workspot client running on the local machine checks the Windows PC’s security, patching, firewall, and antivirus settings before allowing the user to connect to a Cloud PC resource. The full release is scheduled for November 2022, which will allow customers to manage the capability themselves in Workspot Control.

An important cost optimization tool feature is Enhanced Audit Reports with Cost Center Tracking. Customers can run reports in Workspot Control to track usage by cost center. This Cost Center can use any field in your Active Directory (AD) user record: for example, a standard but unused field or a custom field.

As always, if you would like to take a deeper dive into these enhancements, please reach out to our Customer Success team and we will be more than happy to discuss the newest features with you and show you how they specifically apply to your environment.

Stay tuned for the September edition, where we will continue to provide updates and once again spotlight another innovative feature!

Welcome to the June 2022 edition of “On the Roadmap with Workspot Cloud PCs,” our at-a-glance blog series highlighting new features you can use to maximize your Workspot Cloud PC experience. In June our focus is on the areas of business continuity, security , imaging, and end-user performance.

Let’s jump right in and look at some of the recent features you can use to maximize your Workspot experience.

Spotlight Feature:

Our spotlight feature this month is our Global Desktop! The global desktop allows your end-user to click a single VM icon in their client that is connected to one or more Cloud PCs. Those Cloud PCs can be setup in multiple clouds and/or regions and are used to deliver one of the following experiences:

  • Never-fail Cloud PC – Always available regardless of what is happening with a cloud provider
  • Traveling Cloud PC – Delivers a Cloud PC closest to the user as they travel, reducing latency

The Global Desktop has a 99.95% guaranteed SLA on the entire virtual desktop, not just the broker, as with other solutions. Did you know that Workspot is the only company that offers an SLA on the desktop!?

Other Key Workspot Cloud PC Features:

Focusing on security, you now can assign multiple Protocol Policies per “Desktop VM” or “Pools” allowing you to deliver different policies depending on the end-user’s location – internal or external – to your corporate network.

Our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers can now set an Extended Time Limit after the Pool is updated with their new golden image to allow their software solution (SCCM, Desktop Central, etc.) to push application installations before the VM is shutdown. By default, in GCP, the VM is powered off after the pool is updated.

The end-user experience is everything. As part of our continuing focus on end-user performance, clients using Progressive Web Apps (PWA) for Chrome and Chromebook devices, now have multi-monitor and printing support.

If you would like to take a deeper dive into these Workspot Cloud PC updates, please reach out to your CS team and we will be more than happy to discuss them with you and even show you how they specifically apply to your environment.

Stay tuned for the July edition for more updates and innovation spotlights!

The last decade has presented us with particularly brutal business disruptions, primarily weather and climate change related. Many organizations are at least somewhat prepared to bounce back from these kinds of temporary events, but nothing prepared us for a year-long business disruption in the form of a pandemic. This massive interruption has underscored long-ignored requirements that go well beyond supporting remote working. The manufacturing industry, in particular, with its vast supply chain partnerships and commensurate collaboration needs, can benefit substantially by moving desktop workloads to the cloud. The unprecedented agility cloud desktops and workstations bring to manufacturing firms allows them to quickly respond to new opportunities and changing business dynamics, while also strengthening business continuity measures.

This week, Workspot announced that leading auto manufacturer, Hyundai Motor Group, has implemented the Workspot Enterprise Desktop Cloud™, Workspot’s SaaS platform for delivering cloud desktops, apps and cloud workstations from public cloud regions around the globe to any device, anywhere. Hyundai’s goal in selecting Workspot is to streamline collaboration with its global partners by using cloud desktops. Improving collaboration across teams, whether they are internal project teams or supply chain partners, is one of the most powerful benefits of using cloud desktops and workstations. Project teams cannot afford to waste time waiting for a never-ending series of file and data uploads and downloads – which can often take hours – as they share large, graphics-intensive datasets. The cost of project delays is just too high.

Prior to Workspot, Hyundai’s global network of partners and suppliers used a VPN to share files and data. The problem is that traditional VDI and VPN solutions were designed for a single data center, which can result in both IT complexity and poor end user performance – especially for remote employees, partners and contractors. Hyundai found VPN performance to be variable, especially when people needed access to large design files. In response to the performance difficulties faced by VPN users, Workspot partner Soundpipe Korea recognized that Workspot’s cloud-native solution would improve Hyundai’s supply chain access for partners by placing cloud desktops in the closest Microsoft Azure region to each user. This would solve the performance problems because every user is so close to an Azure cloud region that their level of latency is imperceptible. Additionally, the SaaS approach to virtual desktops aligns perfectly with Hyundai’s overall cloud-first strategy, bringing new levels of flexibility to the business.

With over 40,000 unique users and partners within the company’s supply chain system, the productivity boost that real-time collaboration can have on the manufacturing process is substantial. Hyundai is using Workspot to deploy customized desktops across seven Microsoft Azure regions, accessed by users in over 40 countries around the globe. At any given time, partners can access the secure partner portal to easily collaborate on files and projects, and they can expect stunning performance.

By implementing Workspot, Hyundai is able to:

  • Keep partners happy with seamless, fast, and reliable access to Hyundai applications
  • Place each desktop in the cloud region closest the user for optimal performance, even when accessing very large files
  • Reduce the burden on their internal help desk because of Workspot’s operational simplicity
  • Enhance its security with global monitoring of all activities from within a single console

Workspot cloud desktops provide the performance, real-time collaboration and security organizations like Hyundai need, while also enabling IT teams to efficiently scale cloud desktop resources to immediately onboard new employees and easily accommodate contractors for temporary projects. Overall, SaaS cloud desktops position global manufacturing organizations to gain and maintain a competitive advantage.
